Self Portraits
[Much to my sadness,] I’m rarely with other people when I go on shoots, and I love having people in as many images as I can. So when I’m the only human around (or the only human willing to have my photograph taken), I resort to the self portrait. There is also a certain challenge to taking a good picture of yourself without any help (especially without a shutter remote!). In a few of these, I had to use some very creative measures to get the focus correct, like focusing on the rock that I will be jumping from, and then pulling the focus forward a few millimeters since I will (hopefully) be farther forward than the rock when the image is taken. Or putting a rock in the middle of the road so I can focus on it and then throw it out of the way when I run over to sit for the picture (yeah, I like rocks). So yes, self portraits are not as easy as one may think; unless of course your idea of a self portrait is the classic “camera-at-arms-length-pointing-down-at-my-face” kind of shot. But those have their place too.

Re: Self Portraits
Awesome shots Josh! ...so how did you get a self portrait of you holding a camera? Did you have two cameras?

I'm kinda thinking that's the answer to the question...
My favorite is the one where you're looking up at the camera taking a picture.

Mirrors. I love mirrors. The one of me looking up is in an elevator with a mirrored ceiling.
However, I did not have a giant mirror for the one in the field, so I stole Andrew's Xti.
And oh my gosh, your profile pic is hilarious, Clareesa. Wow.

Re: Self Portraits
Mirrors are definitely amazing. But usually you can tell when someone takes a mirror pic. I couldn't tell at all in yours(except the one).
haha. Thank you. ^_^ I like it too.

It's my "I'm trying to get this thing to work and still smile" face.
