What place[s]? I've learned to rate pictures by how long they hold my attention. These had me for about fifteen seconds each (that's really good, btw :P). Wow..... Colors, depths, textures, compositions... wow... I'm serious, I want those!

Like I said, I fail at landscape photography, so these are like, WOW!!!!!
You need to get some large prints done and sell some of these. Seriously.

It just has a broader dynamic range (lights and darks).

Uhmm... I can not add anything... those are by far the best I've seen in a looong time. Can I have a couple full res. ones for my computer desktop?

the problem would be that i have a little dinky camera and the res isn't very high.

Well, yours are plenty high enough. All you need is 1200x1600 for a sharp 20x30 print, and yours are a lot higher than that. :)

You are far too hard on yourself. You don't need lessons, training, a good camera, or technical knowledge. All you need is knowing how to push the shutter release, and a good eye for art and beauty. Bingo.
of course there is nothing wrong with enhancing those two things with training, a better camera etc. But don't let a lack of those things stop you from excelling now.
Don't feel like you have nothing to offer the world just because you camera costs less than fifteen hundred dollars.
